Kiamos currently serves as the Staff Judge Advocate for NORAD and U.S. Northern Command and has served with distinction in a variety of billets throughout his career. In 1989, he received his juris doctor from the Chicago-Kent College of Law. Following his admission to the Illinois bar, Kiamos practiced law in Chicago, specializing in civil litigation. In 1992, he was commissioned in the Judge Advocate General's Corps (JAGC) through the direct accession program. Upon graduation from the Naval Justice School, he reported to his first duty station at Navy Legal Service Office San Diego, where he served as a division officer and performed duties as both trial and defense counsel. In 1995, Kiamos reported to Commander, Amphibious Group THREE where he served as a staff judge advocate. From 1997 to 1999, he served as an instructor at Naval Justice School where he instructed new judge advocates in the Basic Lawyer Course and served in a variety of billets, including criminal law division officer and director of the trial advocacy program. In 2002, Kiamos was awarded a Master of Law degree in environmental law from the George Washington University. From 2002 to 2004, he served as Staff Judge Advocate for Commander, Carrier Group ONE. In 2004, he reported for assignment at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. From 2004 to 2006, he served as the Navy's Environmental Legislative Counsel in the Navy's Office of Legislative Affairs. In 2006, he reported as Assistant for Legal and Legislative Matters (N09D) in the Office of the Vice Chief of Naval Operations and served in the Pentagon until selected for command in August 2008. From August 2008 thru July 2010, Kiamos was Commanding Officer of Region Legal Service Office, Southeast. In July 2010, he reported for assignment at Navy Personnel Command, Millington, Tennessee, and served as Head, JAGC Detailer.
