The Federal Asian Pacific American Council (FAPAC) awarded Lt. James Yoon the FAPAC Military Meritorious Service Award, at its 31st National Leadership Training Program in Orlando, Fla., on May 11, 2016. The Federal Asian Pacific American Council (FAPAC) awarded Lt. FAPAC, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization, is the oldest and largest Asian American Pacific Islander affinity group for federally employed Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. FAPAC works to promote equal opportunity and cultural diversity for Asian-Pacific Americans within the Federal and District of Columbia governments. The FAPAC Military Meritorious Service Award honors military members who have supported the DoD mission, overseas contingency operations, or whose attributes best epitomized the qualities and core values of their respective Military Service or other DoD Components. Yoon after returning from receiving the award. Yoon continued, “I deeply appreciate the Navy JAG Corps' commitment to diversity and hope to continue to help our organization have a consistently diverse body." Yoon is currently participating in the First Tour Judge Advocate Program at Region Legal Service Office Midwest and Defense Service Office North. From May 2015 to September 2015, Yoon served as the command judge advocate for the USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6), homeported in Sasebo, Japan. As the command judge advocate, Yoon personally advised the USS Bonhomme Richard’s commanding officer on matters of military justice, ethics, and investigations during a three-month deployment to Australia, Southeast Asia, and Japan. Yoon is currently participating in the First Tour Judge Advocate Program at Region Legal Service Office Midwest and Defense Service Office North.
